Whether you have sufficient capital to make an investment purchase outright or not, you may wish to consider a mortgage. Mortgages in Spain are simple to maintain, as they increasingly are in countries such as Morocco, Hungary and Cape Verde.
As with many emerging markets in their early stages, property mortgages in Brazil are not yet available to non residents. This has prevented some investors from buying, despite the recognised high capital growth potential. Eighteen months ago, this was the case for investors buying in Bulgaria, Cape Verde and Morocco, where now financing is readily available for at least 50% of the property value. Market demand as ever will prevail and it is highly probable that within the next 18 months various property financing options will be available in Brazil. When mortgages do become available, we'll be one of the first to know about it. One thing that is certain is that as soon as financing does become readily available, there will be a huge increase in the number of buyers and property developers will increase prices.
