Sometimes known as contract flipping, this is the process of buying an off-plan investment with a view to selling it property before completion. This way, only a percentage of the price is paid by the investor as an initial stage payment, with a view to enjoying the capital growth on the full property price.

Key to successful buy to sell / contract flip investments is getting in early and buying at the cheapest possible price, which is often at the pre-release stage. Also the location of the development and the position within a development is of paramount importance to successfully sell before completion. There are certain investment opportunities in Brazil, which offer some great opportunities to resell before completion, but timing of course is everything.

The most important thing when buying off plan with the intention to sell before completion is that you are in a financial position to either settle the sum outstanding or, take a mortgage, should you need to complete the purchase.
